Gayle Siebert has penned dozens of short stories, novellas, and novels for readers of all ages. They always feature strong female protagonists, and  you can usually find a horse or two. And naturally, there has to be a good-looking cowboy somewhere. She was born in Saskatchewan, grew up in Alberta, and has lived her adult life in British Columbia. After more than thirty years as an insurance adjuster, she retired to her small horse farm, Idyllbeck, on Vancouver Island.

A derelict house.

A sinister owner.

A woman missing.

Lindy has no choice but to check out the old house. She’ll be careful. But with a serial killer on the loose, just being careful might not be enough.

Out here, justice comes slow. Revenge rides faster.

PI Lindy Larsen didn’t think there would be murders in this quiet prairie town after the serial killer died. She was wrong. A familiar waitress from the café near her office—someone she chatted with almost every day—is found dead.

The RCMP are quick to blame Calvin Yellowhawk, a flamboyant cowboy who works for Lindy’s ranch business, and has been in trouble with the law in the past. His lawyer hires Lindy to find evidence to exonerate him. In the course of investigating, she can’t shake the thought that the woman she calls Red Boots could be the real culprit. She was tried for her part in her husband’s murders, and acquitted. She’s free to walk. Free to stalk. Free to kill again.

With the RCMP and even her friends convinced she’s obsessed with Red Boots, she realizes if the law won’t stop the serial killer’s wife, Lindy will have to. Even if it means crossing over to the dark side herself. Because the line between right and wrong can get blurry, and revenge can be sweet.
