Melissa Zilinskas is a native Kentuckian and lifelong fan of ghost stories. She was compelled to write one of her own after her cursed home began offering a steady stream of inspiration. “Unwelcome” is her debut novel. She also writes young adult and middle-grade fiction. When not reading or writing, she enjoys hiking, watching baseball, exploring old cemeteries, visiting coffee shops with her husband, and correcting other people’s grammar. She lives near a spooky forest in Louisville.

In 1980, a rural house with a sinister past awaits its next occupants.

The old farmhouse looked idyllic for Molly Keane and her family, but she just can’t shake the unease about it. Her anxiety only intensifies once they move in. Strange events in and around the house soon become unsettling everyday occurrences. As neither her son nor her altered husband notice anything unusual, she questions her grasp on reality, slowly sinking into feelings of estrangement and isolation.

Then she encounters a peculiar individual in the unlikeliest of places, and Molly learns their home has a history of evil within its walls. A man who once owned it—and who may have a bizarre connection with her own ancestor—still resides there and wants her family out. At any cost.

What dark forces initially drew them to the place? And what will convince her skeptical husband to leave their dream behind before it’s too late?
